The beginning of this century is marked as Information Age which has not only revolutionized Indian and global industrial market but also has put an impact in engineering education system. BESUS responded timely by introducing a new specialized engineering degree course in Information Technology under the department of Information Technology in the year 2000 to educate graduate engineer to be an expert of microelectronics based processing, computing and communication of data that global IT sector of coming day’s demands. Excellent placement record through out the globe reveals the demand of our graduate product. At the same time, it has been realized that true benefits of IT can not reach the common people unless IT engineer has sufficient knowledge in communication technology. Feedback from our alumni, survey in present status of IT sector along with its future promise and challenges, pressure from research and academic institutes motivate this department to take a bold step of introducing new post graduate education and research in Information and Communication Engineering (ICE) which is probably new in the eastern region of this country.
The objective of the Research and education in this state-of-art area is to create correctly trained manpower in the field. The demand is increasing day by day with tremendous growth and convergence in computing, communication and real time system design which in turn promise to reduce more uncertainties from human life. The academia and the industry need independent thinkers and versatile team workers in ICE to lead the development of the vastly expanding field towards reducing the problems of the society in healthcare, to save human energy and to offer more ease and comfort to human beings.
Our aim is to be a research-intensive department with focus on creation and dissemination of knowledge, overall development of students, teachers, employees and consistently meeting the expectations of the stakeholders, in a dynamic environment.
